Tonight we will talk about what to do when you struggle with your thoughts and hormones, Mama. God is near. He gives wisdom for us.

Good evening, mamas, and welcome back to Midlight, your light in the middle of the night. Tonight I wanted to recognize those that have loved ones that have passed away serving our country. Today is Memorial Day in the United States, and that is a day that we mark the memories of those who gave their lives in the ultimate sacrifice for our country's freedom, even the freedom we have tonight to stay together through the airwaves in a public space and share God's word. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for continuing to do a good work after your loved one has passed on from serving in our country's military. And I just wanted to give a moment to say we see you and thank you. I've been thinking about you, mamas, and I was thinking about those of you that are in the midst of heavy seasons, and I was thinking about perhaps your heavy season comes from the changes of having a baby, whether that's physically, emotionally, or hormonally. And I was thinking about some things that might encourage you tonight. First of all, I want you to know that you are not alone, mama. Those of us that have babies with you, we understand because our bodies have been hijacked too. And once our babies got here, we are learning to work with the changes in our lives, whether that's our bodies, the new schedule, or the lack of a schedule because of this new baby, we are in a beautiful, hard new season. And I want to encourage you, mama, that it is beautiful. If you look at your body after having your baby and it's not the same as it used to be, you're right, because our bodies do tremendous things to carry life and to birth it and then to sustain our lives and theirs afterwards. So I want to encourage you that you are beautiful. And God created you to do a beautiful thing as a mama in carrying life and sustaining it. So I've been thinking about our hormones and our emotions and the things that can feel a little bit wonky from time to time as a woman, and I've been thinking about advice from the Bible that the Lord gives us to help us in these seasons. And I wanted to share this with you. And it comes from Psalm 46 in verse 5, and it says, God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved, God shall help her just at the break of dawn. And we skip down just a little further to verse 10, and it says, Be still and know that I am God. Sometimes in these places when we are in high hormone seasons of our lives as mamas, and it happens monthly, and it happens even in the early parts of our motherhood and womanhood, and even in the later seasons of our womanhood, our hormones and our emotions can take a slight left turn, and we have to find a way to get our feet underneath us. So I want us to have some scripture verses tucked in our tool belt as mamas, so that when we feel like we are getting moved by the things of this world, or even our own bodies are threatening to steal our peace from us, as our hormones can do that from time to time. I wanted to give you a couple of earmark verses that could help you in those moments, and one of them is this exact verse, Psalm 46, 10, be still and know that I am God. And I also like the one just above it in verse five where it says, God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved. God shall help her just at the break of dawn. God is with you, Mama, and He understands and He is there to be our help in the moments when we need steadied, whether that is in our hearts or in our minds. Now I want to take you to another verse that might be helpful to put in your tool belt. And it comes from James chapter one and verse nineteen. So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath, for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. So when we are in these high intense moments within ourselves, the Lord says Be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath, or slow to get angry, because anger or wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. So ladies, in this time when you have a hard day or a hard season, I'm gonna encourage you to use James chapter 1 and verse 19 as an anchor verse. Be quick to listen, be slow to speak, and be slow to get angry. It's really hard to put those things back together when you've allowed yourself to go down those places and talk over people and not want to listen to others and also to be quick to get angry. It's never a good outcome, and that's what the Lord is saying here. And the other verse that I wanted to give you in the last one for tonight to put in your tool belt comes from Philippians chapter 4 and verse 8. And this is the verse where it tells us, finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. So here the Lord tells us to focus our minds and our hearts on things that are good and are of good report. So here is exactly what the Lord tells us to do, mamas, when we are struggling with our thoughts and our hearts and our minds, the Lord says, put your thoughts on these things, good things, lovely things, things that are of a good report. So what I do in these moments when I Philippians 4.8, that's what I say, just Philippians 4.8 it. I say, Okay, God, this is hard. That upset me, but I'm gonna focus on your goodness in this moment. I'm going to focus on the fact that you made this person. I'm going to focus on the fact that you are with me and I am not alone. And I start to just think about the good things that the Lord has done and who he is and the beautiful things around me and the opportunities I have as a mama to do the things I am doing right now, even if they're hard. And I remind myself that God has a plan for this moment, even if it's a difficult one. The Lord is with me, and I can focus on things that are good and noble and pure and lovely and have good report and good virtue. And up above that, I want to share this last verse, Philippians 4 and chapter 6, which is just right above, and it says, Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus. So this is beautiful because the Lord says to come to Him with everything, not to be anxious, to pray and with thanksgiving, tell the Lord what we need, and then get this. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds through Christ Jesus. So these are some options God has given us in his word to overcome those thoughts when they threaten to take over our minds. Just know that the Lord understands and he goes before us in his word and he gives us wisdom. So tonight, mamas, I just hope that some of this will be helpful for you when you are struggling. And mamas, I just want you to know you are not alone. There are many of us, mamas, out there with you, and the Lord is near to you. So tonight I'm going to leave you with a blessing. May the Lord bless you and keep you and make his face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you, and give you peace. Until next time, Mama, take care.
