Tonight we will talk about what to do when you just can’t fix it, Mama.

When you just can't fix it as a mama, trust the Lord. We're gonna talk about that tonight on Midlight Mamas. I have had the opportunity of being a mother for almost 30 years now, and I have older children and I have little ones ranging from six years old to 30. And in the last year, I had something happen that I just couldn't fix. And you know what I mean. There are times where your little one has an owie and they fall, and you can give them a kiss and a band-aid and it makes it better. But sometimes there's moments as a mama that things happen and we just can't fix it. And I have experienced that more than I would have wanted. And that hopeless feeling is so hard, and it feels so lonely when you are in the place of feeling like you can't fix something that's going on with your little one. But I will tell you this: it is an opportunity for prayer and trusting the Lord. Over the last year, I had the opportunity to practice trusting the Lord and praying over a situation when I couldn't fix it. And it was about one of my adult children, and she was going through a really difficult time, and we were even worried for her life at one point due to a mistake made in surgery in the OR. And we were standing beside her bed in the recovery room, waiting to see how she would do, and I remember feeling in the beginning completely and totally hopeless and helpless, and I couldn't fix it no matter how much I wanted to. And then this verse became a part of my life that day, and it is Philippians 4, 6 through 7, and it says, To not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And I walked out of that recovery room and down the hall, and I had myself a pretty good cry, probably one of the hardest times I've ever cried in my life, because I was worried for her life. And when I came back around the corner, I found my daughter who is married, with her husband standing over her bed praying over her. And I remembered years earlier when I was rocking her in the rocking chair and praying over her future spouse, that her husband would love the Lord even more than he loved her, and that he would love her so well. And then I was standing in this exact moment of our history watching it unfold. And my daughter did turn out to be okay, and she did recover, and yesterday was her 24th birthday, and we celebrated with dinner and cupcakes, and it was special because this year felt especially fragile, and I was so thankful that the Lord saw fit to heal her and to spare her. This Bible verse is simple and yet tender and personal. He cares for you, Mama. He cares for me. He hears those prayers and he knows where we are when we feel like we just can't fix it. There was another opportunity in the last couple of years where I just had to take my lack of control and my lack of being able to fix it and give it to the Lord and say these exact words. God, I cannot fix this, but you can. And the Lord has been so faithful to meet me in those places, whether it was a physical oui or an emotional owie for my children, the Lord has given me the understanding that he hears me, he sees me, and he is tender with me as a mama, and that I truly can cast all of my anxieties on him because he really does care for me. Another one I want to share with you tonight just comes from such a special sweet verse in the Bible. That's in 2 Corinthians 12 and verse 9. And it says, But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. So, mamas, if you feel inadequate as a mother at times, just know that's when God's power shows up. And I've joked about saying, if God can work with weakness, then He has so much to work with with me. Because I recognize and understand my weaknesses, and the Lord can use them as he sees fit. I'm always going to try to do better as a mother, I'm always going to try to do better as a woman. But I know that compared to God's power, mine is very weak. And there are moments when I feel so inadequate as a human, and I can come before the Lord and say, God, I need you because I can't do this on my own. And if you need to use me, do it. So the Lord will use you. I want to share with you Psalm 5522 that says this cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you. He will never permit the righteous to be moved. He doesn't just take the burden, Mama, He sustains you underneath it. That's amazing and really encouraging. So, Mama, if you find there are times as a mom, and you will, that you just can't fix it, whether it's a bubbly tummy, painful teeth coming in, an adult child who has a surgery that goes sideways, just know that the same God who holds them holds you. And you can ask the Lord to be the one to bear the weight for you and to help you when you feel like you can't fix it. And just know that the Lord He can. So tonight, Mamas, I want to leave you with a blessing from number six, twenty four twenty six. May the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you and give you peace. Amen. Until next time, mamas, just remember that God is with you when you feel like you cannot fix it. You can lean into him and trust him and be honest with how you are feeling and let him do the work. Until next time, mamas, take care and we'll talk again soon.
