Tonight we will talk about the importance of slowing down and enjoying the time we have with our little ones, mama.
Motherhood can feel so busy and so much like a blur sometimes, but there is a holy invitation to slow down enough to notice and savor the small, beautiful moments of motherhood. We're gonna talk about that tonight on Midlight Mamas. I actually love the idea of an invitation from the Lord for us to slow down from our busy lives and spend time soaking in the goodness and the joy of being a mama. Because I feel like so many things around us tell us to hurry, to be productive. You've got to do more, you've got to be more. And yet, God says, slow down, take the time to just sit and enjoy this moment as a mama and come and spend time with me as you, mother. Because mamas, motherhood, it just moves fast. There's just these days that blur with feeding, dishes, laundry, and noise. But God, He is in the hard parts, and He is also in the quiet joys of this life we have as a mama, and He wants us to taste the joy that He has for us. I don't think we were built to feel guilty if we aren't productive enough. I think slowing down, it's not laziness, mama. It is an opportunity to be in the presence of the very ones that were created and entrusted to us to take care of. I think of the simple joys like this, like the smell of your baby's head, the way their hand curls around your finger, the soft weight of their little body on your chest, and the giggle that surprises you mid-chaos. These are gifts meant to be received, not rushed past, not rushed through. You see, God often works in unhurried ways, Mama. When we slow down, we create space to notice him and to receive the joy he's just placing right in front of us. And there are some practical ways to practice slowing down, Mamas. Simple, realistic ideas like when you're nursing, just sitting with your baby and enjoying the experience and just paying attention to all those fine little details that are on your baby's face and on their little toes and on their fingers and the way they look at you or the way that they breathe when you're holding them. It's a wonderful thing to soak in the miracle of life that they really are and that God entrusted them to you. Mama, it's also good when you go to meet a need to take deep breaths before responding to that need. And that keeps us grounded as we move from one need to the next. Also, a good idea is to choose one small moment each day to fully stay in, even if it's only 60 seconds. Choose in that moment to say, I'm gonna stay in this moment. I'm gonna sit and be fully present in this moment for 60 seconds with my little one. Or maybe it's just time spent right in the presence of the Lord with your children. We love Psalm 46.10, don't we, Mamas? Where it says, Be still and know that I am God. Stillness is how we remember who holds us. We know that God speaks to us in a still small voice, but we have to be still to hear that. Ecclesiastes 3, 1 and verse 11 say, For everything there is a season, he has made everything beautiful in its time. This season of motherhood has beauty that only appears when we stop long enough to see it. And another verse that just speaks to my soul on this part is James 1.17, where it says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. You see, Mama, the small joys of motherhood are gifts. Slowing down is how we actually open them. And one last verse for tonight. Zephaniah 317. The Lord your God is in your midst. He will quiet you by his love. You see, Mamas, his presence can settle our hurried hearts. We just have to allow that quiet and that slow down time. Because motherhood's gonna go by fast. Take it from me. Youngest is six, oldest will be thirty next week. That 30-year-old was in my arms a second ago, and now she's living her own life. And you know, at the time you feel like that's the saying, how does it go? It says, the days are long, but the years are short, and it's true. It's important to slow down and absorb the blessings of motherhood because it will go by, mama, and I don't know about you, but I don't want to look back on my motherhood and feel like I missed it. I want to look back on my motherhood and say, I was present with the things in front of me, meaning my gifts, my children. And the Lord chose to give me those, and I don't want to be rushed in the way I handle them or the days that I have with them. Mama, it is such a gift to have a child, and the world will help you to just rush through it if you wanted. But the Lord does not say that. The Lord says, we are to be present with our children, that they are a gift from the Lord. We are in a beautiful season, Mamas, of motherhood. Yes, it's busy. Yes, there is always another thing to do. But sometimes, Mama, it's important to slow down and soak it up and taste and see that the Lord is good and that those little treasures, those little babies, they need us. They need our faces, they need our thoughts, they need our smiles, and they need our calm hearts to lead them. So tonight, mamas, I'm gonna pray for you if you feel like you've been hurried and busy and you're missing out on moments because you're stressed and life is flying by. I'm gonna pray for you tonight. Oh Lord Jesus, thank you for these mamas. Lord, thank you for my children. Thank you for their children. God, would you help us to slow down and just stay in the present of the moment instead of rushing through it with our children? God, show us when we need to work and when we need to sit, even if that means sitting down on the floor and just playing with our children quietly, God. Help us to be the kind of mothers that are present with you and with them. We love you, God. In your name we pray. Amen. Mamas, tonight we're gonna practice being present with the Lord and with our families. It may not be till the morning when you wake up, but I want the thought to be to slow down and enjoy your motherhood. I'm gonna pray a blessing over you now from numbers 6, 24 through 26. May the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you, and give you peace. Amen. Until next time, Mamas, enjoy those blessings, and we'll talk again soon.
